SnagAJob was founded in 1999. Based out of Glen Allen, Virginia, the application was intended to help users find hourly employment. The SnagAJob community currently includes over 20 million registered job seekers as well as over 100,000 active job postings. The website’s numerous features and resources make it an appealing choice for many job seekers. In March 2011, the site raised $27 million in its third fund raising round led by August Capital.

The SnagAJob website utilizes a vibrant orange color scheme that is well balanced by the solid white background. The site design is professional overall, and includes a handful of banner advertisements. These are generally kept to the top or off to the sides of the page and feature companies and services that re related (such as career courses and higher education institutes). Six navigational links can be found in the upper right hand corner of the page that allow the user to browse jobs, access the right fit degrees tool, view job tips, find answers, or log in.
Users who would like to join SnagAJob can do so by clicking the black and white “Join Today” button in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The registration form requires an email address, password and zip code. The form also asks the user how they discovered SnagAJob. The bottom of the form includes four automatically selected check boxes. The first one signs the user up for local job alerts notifications, the second is for job hunting tips, the third is for special offers and the fourth is for the SuperSaver newsletter. The user must manually uncheck these before submitting the form to opt out of email notifications and promotions.
SnagAJob allows job seekers to register for free. There are no subscription fees or purchase requirements. The user is given access to all features. Companies who are looking to hire can list jobs on SnagAJob, but this requires a fee. Companies interested in basic postings only can do so for free. There are two paid options available that gives the company better listings. The Select plan costs just under $90 and include enhanced features and posting renewal every 30 days. The Premium membership costs around $110 and is intended for companies who plan to hire five or more employees through SnagAJob per month.
